Burgeis

Vinschgau Valley

The history of Burgeis is closely connected with the career of the monastery of Marienberg. The monks were the spiritual- and the temporal companions of the population of Burgeis.

And they have ensured that Burgeis survived several wars without prejudice, and so the village could keep its special charms.

The village of Burgeis can be described as a "open-air gallery" thanks to its old village core. The winding alleys, painted farmhouses, stately guest houses and the village square with its fountain offer not only every visitor an unforgettable impression, but were also a backdrop for film productions.

There are many churches, monasteries and other places of interest, such as Tartscher Bichl, along the ancient Via Claudia Augusta, which runs through the Val Venosta. This hill is a mythical and mythical elevation that was already populated in pre-Roman times.

Vinschgau Valley is the region in the Alpine region with the most sunny days.

Take advantage of these days for hiking in the mountains or other places of interest in the Vinschgau Valley.

If the weather does not play, there are enough alternatives, such as the monastery of Marienberg, the monastery of St. Johann, or the Ötzi Museum in Bolzano.

But also other sights in the surrounding area, such as the Benedictine church in Mals,
the Churburg in Schludern, the city of Glurns are cultural highlights for those who are interested in culture.
